ARD Q+A

ARD is a pretrial diversionary program that normally requires a participant to complete certain requirements and comply with conditions to successfully complete the program.  Upon completion of the program, the person is normally able to seek a dismissal of the charges, and dismissed charges can then be expunged from the government records IF the appropriate paperwork is filed with the Clerk of Courts.  While the ARD program is used across the state of Pennsylvania, the program requirements vary from county to county.  The program requirements also vary based upon the type of case and other factors.

Below, State College criminal defense lawyer Jason S. Dunkle answers many questions that are routinely asked by clients about the ARD program.
